Learning. Opportunity. Virtue. Excellence.
For the lifetime of its alumni and generations beyond, Booker T. Washington High School (BTW), Columbia, South Carolina, continues to fortify the collective conscience with achievement and light. Because of the love poured into and out of administrators, teachers, parents, students and community, the reverberations of pride, dignity and promise that were once ringing the halls of BTW are now also resounding across the nation: the BTW Foundation—alumni, scholarship recipients, legacies and legacy builders—continue to come together in annual reunion over the rich legacy of the first high school established for the education of African-Americans in SC’s capital city. It’s A Love Thing!
Loyal. One. Vibrant. Eternal.
To know BTW is to love BTW! Kinship and friendship reign supreme in the 104 years of BTW’s historic presence. And, since the school’s closing in 1974, nearly 500 Alumni, their family and friends return annually in reunion. This year marks the 45th Annual Heritage Celebration. And, love will bring everyone together in this first-ever virtual experience. It’s A Love Thing!
Heritage Celebration 2020 will be presented on Zoom, a virtual meeting platform that is accessible by cell phone, tablet or computer. Registration will be required to gain access. The Heritage Celebration will consist of 3 events in the months of June, July and August.
